John Penrose gets Licensing

The DCMS has announced its ministers’ portfolios today, giving the licensing brief to John Penrose.

Penrose, who was handed the tourism and heritage brief in the Government appointments, will be responsible for how live music is treated under the Licensing Act and presumably will have a big hand in cutting the “red tape” that the coalition promised to do away with this morning to encourage live music performances.
